On March 13, 2000 the Majlis of Ulema of the Italian Muslim Association received the following message:
With the name ALLAH, The Most Gracious, The Most Merciful
All Praise is due to ALLAH, Guardian, Evolver, Cherisher and Sustainer of All Worlds and may the Peace and Blessings of ALLAH be upon Prophet Muhammad,
ALLAH's Great and Honoured Messenger to Humanity for all times. Ameen.
It is very imperative that you remove the Nation of Islam from your list of
AL-Islam's conspirators. During the month of Feb. 25-27, 2000, the Nation
of Islam joined our ranks of Orthodox AL-Islam. Imam W. D. Mohammed was in
attendance and made the statement that, "This community will never be
divided again." The leadership of Imam Mohammed and Minister Farrakhan has
become united under the clear declaration of Shahadateen. Thank you for
your time and consideration. May ALLAH grant us all things that are good in
this life and May ALLAH Grant s All Things that are Good in The Hereafter.
Ameen.

Our answer on March 16 was:
Wa 'alaykum salam wa rahmat-Ullahi wa barakatuH.
Dear Brother,
We are already been informed about W. D. Mohammed's recent declaration and about his participation in the so called "Savior's Day" celebration. You are interpreting this event as meaning that Mr. Farrakhan has accepted Islam, but Farrakhanists interpret it in a opposite way: they say that W. D. Mohammed has "repented" and returned to the (so-called) "Nation of Islam", and that Mr. Farrakhan was so merciful to accept his "repentance".
During past years, we have appreciated very much that W. D. Mohammed had separated himself form the doctrines preached by his father, had accepted Islam and was going to lead his followers from "black islam" to real Islam. Of course, this process of conversion was not completed, and we have been praying Allah - subhanaHu - so that He call help W. D. Mohammed to become a real Sunni scholar and a leader of guidance for his followers, so that Afro-Americans could separate themselves from the false cult preached by Farrakhan and become Muslims.
Masha-Allah, we see know that - all of a sudden - that exactly the opposite is happening: W. D. Mohammed and Farrakhan proclaim to be "united", and this happens without Farrakhan having rejected even one of his false doctrines.
We are sorry to say that a mere lip service to Shahdatayn is not enough to show that Mr. Farrakhan has become a Muslim. We have simply no proof that - while saying "Muhammad Rasul-Ullah" - he refers himself to
Sayyiduna Muhammad Ibn
'Abdillah (sall-Allahu 'alayhi wa sallam), and not to Elijah Muhammad, the false prophet whom he goes on calling "Most Honorable".
The meeting between the two leaders happened during celebrations for "Savior's Day", and this is itself a shocking circumstance for Muslims. So-called "Savior's Day" is a feast to honor a false prophet, and taking part in it is strictly haram for Muslims. On the contrary, Mr. Farrakhan celebrates it, and W. D. Mohammed accepted to participate. We hope that W. D. Mohammed will soon repent for this sinful participation of him, and will understand that it is simply not possible to mingle guidance and misguidance together. May Allah prevent him to simply return to the false cult he comes from.
Until now, Mr. Farrakhan has not rejected any of his false, cultist and racist beliefs. He never admitted that:
1) "Master" Farrad and Elijah Muhammad were two false prophets, preachers of a kufr belief which is opposite to Islam.
2) Black people and white people are descendants of the same forefather, and are created as equals in front of Allah.
3) Celebrating "Savior's Day" is against Islam, since it means honoring a false prophet.
As long as Mr. Farrakhan does not openly and publicly says so, as long as his organization does not accept these points as an integral part of their belief, there is no reason why our Majlis should change its verdict about the so-called nation of Islam, and our
fatwa is always valid today as it was before.
May Allah Ta'ala help W. D. Mohammed to repent soon, and to understand that by associating himself with the wicked Farrakhan he is simply risking to destroy all good things he has done until now.
Praise be to Allah and Allah knows best.
Wa-s-salamu 'alaykum wa rahmat-Ullahi wa barakatuH.

On March 17 we received:
With the name ALLAH, The Most Gracious, The Most Merciful
All Praise is due to ALLAH, Guardian, Evolver, Cherisher and Sustainer of All Worlds and may the Peace and Blessings of ALLAH be upon Prophet Muhammad
ALLAH's Great and Honoured Messenger to Humanity for All Times. Ameen.
I understand your disposition. You and your organization are Sufi. If I
had known this, then I would not have sent what I stated in reference to
your Fatwa. Regardless, not you nor anyone from what we know of our own
history will nor ever alter our perspective. We believe and Worship none
except ALLAH, The ALLAH, The One and Only ALLAH, The ALLAH that Prophet
Abraham in who's Path Prophet Muhammad came, The Millah of Abraham, The same
ALLAH that Prophet Muhammad Worshipped. We follow Prophet Muhammad
(s.a.a.w.) and we believe that Imam W. D. Mohammed follows Prophet Muhammad
(s.a.a.w.) whether you believe and accept it or not. We believe that
Farrakhan has accepted that.
It is very apparent that you do not know what Imam W. D. Mohammed has
clearly stated given in many, many, many lectures concerning the past of The
Nation of Islam; Fard or Wali or Wallace - whatever that man chose to call
himself - Muhammad.
There is no forgiveness for those that consciously teach or taught that
there is another besides ALLAH and knowingly have innocent people following
that extremely demonic filth. Such demonic teachers receive nothing except
punishment. The children of Satan as Isa identified them sustained this
wickedness and not only that they set themselves up as that to replace the
Real Creator, ALLAH, by supposedly usurping The Authority of ALLAH. This is
what we have been taught why Shahada begins with, "No...and then says,
except ALLAH." There is no forgiveness. We read in the Qur'an that there
is no forgiveness for that. It doesn't matter when such filth has been
taught even from the most ancient of times to anytime there has not been and
there will not be any forgiveness for that. There is only punishment.
Now, we have a leader and leadership in Imam W. D. Mohammed that has taught
for hours, days, weeks, months and years concerning Shahada and also
Shahadateen and he has not stopped. Farrakhanites can say what they please
as you do and obviously those that agree with you.
Fear gives birth to discipline. We fear no one except ALLAH and ALLAH
Alone.

Our answer.
As-salamu 'alaykum wa rahmat-Ullahi wa barakatuH.
Dear Brother Muhammad,
We are sorry to say that, notwithstanding the fact that you introduce yourself as an "Imam", it seems you do not understand very well the use of classical Arabic words in Islam.
Our organization is not "Sufi"; we are followers of the belief of Ahlu-s-Sunnah wa-l-Jama'ah; we are Shafi'i in fiqh, Ash'ari in kalam and Qadiri in tariqah. Ahlu-s-Sunnah wa-l-Jama'ah has always been the majority of Muslims, and Rasul-Ullah (sall-Allahu 'alayhi wa sallam) announced us that that is the group that will be protected from hell and from the deviations preached by the seventy two heretic sects.
We denying being "Sufis" not because we understand this word as offensive, but because it is a honor that is too great to be attributed to us. "Sufi" is - in classical Arabic - an equivalent of "Waliyy-Ullah". Sunni Muslims use the word "Sufi" for the greatest ones among the saints of Allah and the scholars of Islam, for masters of guidance like Imam Hasan al-Basri, Imam Abdul-Qadir al-Jilani, Imam Ghazali, Imam Rabbani, Shaykh Muhiddin, Mawlana Rumi, Imam Suyuti, etc (radi Allahu 'anhum). We are not among the saints of ar-Rahman, and we do not possess even a minimum part of wisdom that was granted by Allah to these noble scholars of old. We are only ordinary Muslims who - because of Allah's all-encompassing mercy - have received the transmission of some aspects of Islamic sciences from the Ulema of Islam, and are abiding to our duty to teach others what we have received.
Because of the influence of Wahhabism (one of the most terrible heretic sects of our time) and its propaganda in the United States, many Americans are starting using the word "Sufi" as if it were an offence, or the name of a certain "sect", but this linguistic use is not in accordance with the meaning that "Sufi" has in the Arabic language. If you want Muslims to accept you as an Imam, please, at least learn how to use the Islamic terminology in its correct application, instead of using it in the way it is done by non-Muslim ignoramuses.
We know that W. D. Mohammed is not anymore a member of the cult founded by his father, we know that he has become a Muslim, and that he is one of the few Muslim leaders in the United States who is not affected by fanaticism and extremism. We are not at all hostile toward him; on the contrary, we admire he very much for his courage in cutting bridges with old cultism, and for leading many of his followers to Islam.
Shaykh Abu 'Omar 'Abdul Hadi, a member of our Majlis and one of the most important Muslim scholars of Europe, met W. D. Mohammed in Auschwitz, and questioned him repeatedly about his 'aqidah and the teachings he is giving to his followers. As a consequence of this, our Majlis was not only supporting his work, but also praying for him. We learnt that he was able to defend his followers firstly from Farrakhanism and then from Wahhabism, the most dangerous heresies which menace the faith of Muslims in America. We were really hoping that Allah can lead him to meet a Murshid, a Shaykh who would be able to transmit him the Islamic knowledge, so that he could became not only a leader of a relevant community, but a scholar of Islam, too.
That is the reason why we were really shocked in knowing he took part again in Farrakhan's kufr celebrations, and in learning that he is now claiming to be "united" with Farrakhan. To our surprise, this happens when Farrakhan's organization has not rejected any of his kufr beliefs. We were sincerely hoping that W. D. Mohammed could make a step forward, toward a total integration of his organization in the Ummah, and are now compelled to admit that he is making a step backward, justifying again the cultist background he comes from, and taking part in the wicked "Savior's Day" celebrations.
Since you - and some other American Muslims - asked to know our point of view about what happened on February 25-27, 2000, we are obviously compelled to declare that participation in a kufr celebration is forbidden by the Islamic shari'ah, and we sincerely regret that brother W. D. Mohammed has been involved in it. This obviously does not mean that we are stopping praying for a brother of ours who - in our humble opinion - has committed a terrible mistake. We hope that W. D. Mohammed will be able again to cut all links with Farrakhanism, and ask Allah Ta'ala to guide him, you and us to the right path.
Praise be to Allah and Allah knows best.
Wa-s-salamu 'alaykum wa rahmat-Ullahi wa barakatuH.
