The following letter was received by the Cultural Institute of the Italian Islamic Community on Rajab 28, 1420 / November 7, 1999: 

Dear Brothers in Islam,

Assalam Aleykum Werahmatullah Weberakatuh

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds, to Him belong the endowments and the befitting perfections and commendations. I ask Allah to raise the rank of Prophet Muhammad, sallallahu ^alayhi wa sallam, and to protect his nation from that which he fears for it.

Firstly, I would like to introduce myself; my name is Sheikh Abdul-Rahman Bin Muhammad Al-Ash'ari. In'sha'Allah we will get to know each other better in the future. However, now I am writing this letter to you on a is very important religious issue that calls for a special attention and swift action in the shortest possible time.

The reason I decided to send you this letter is because I understood from your web-site that you are followers of the one true Aquidah, which is the Aquidah of Ahl-sunnah Wal-Jema'a.

In our time, there appear a man pretending to be a Sheikh but in real fact teaching kufr through internet, TV programs, radios, magazines and so forth. The man happens to have gone astray and is influencing Muslims around the world with little knowledge of their religion to follow his footsteps - go astray. His name is Doctor Yusuf Al-Qaradawi. He has been giving fatwas which guide people to kufr. Just to mention a few; he gave fatwas such as the trading of Pork and Alcohol are Halal for Muslims who own private businesses; and even dared to reach the extent of insulting Allah Subhanehu Wata'ala and Our Beloved Prophet Muhammad, sallallahu ^alayhi wa sallam.

Allah Subhanehu Wata'ala said in his Qur'an Al-Karim, which means: "You are the best nation that was brought to the people bidding Al-ma^ruf and forbidding Al-munkar anf believing in Allah". So, by Allah we ask you and your organisation to get involved in the duty bestowed to us by Allah Subhanehu Weta'ala as Muslims - followers of the Prophet Muhammad, sallallahu ^alayhi wa sallam to warn everyone of his teaching which is rapidly spreading out like a wild fire, through all types of media.

He claims to be a Sheikh but anyone with sound knowledge of Islamic Shariah which is based on the Islamic Aquidah would know that this person has contradicted the Shariah in countless issues as can be seen in the attached letters, his publications, his TV program, his interviews and other means of teaching.

It is obvious that this person has embarked on the act of eradicating Islamic Shariah piece by piece. This can be evidenced in his fatwa where he said that the current Muslim Ummah is in need of a "completely brand new Fiqh". This is a fatwa, which no Alim on the correct Islamic path has ever said before. The above mentioned is only one matter but as you will observe in the attached letters, he has bypassed his limits in many other serious Islamic Shariah issues.

Ullamah Ahl-Sunnah Wal-Jama'a around the world are taking measures to protect the Muslim Ummah from this "Shaz" person before he does more damage, to mention few Sheikh Mohamed Ja'afer Sadiq Salihin of Institute of Qur'an and Shariah; and Sheikh Shewki Bin Madlawin director of Dar Ahl-Sunnah Wal-Jama'a from Indonesia.As the Prophet Muhammad sallallahu ^alayhi wa sallam said "Men Shezza, Shezza Fi Al-Nar"; therefore, let us act quickly before greater damage is done. We all need to wakeup and keep our eyes and ears open to protect our Muslim Ummah from such people, as Qaradawi who spread Kufr among us. Attached please find some of the letters sent to us by the above mentioned Ullama'a and more.

We ask of Allah to aid us all to protect the correct Aquidah, Aquidah of Ahl-Sunnah Wal-Jama'a and guide us the right path.

Wa 'alaykum salam wa rahmat-Ullahi wa barakatuH.

Dear Shaykh Abdul-Rahman and Shaykh Saleem,

Jazak-Allah khayran for your precious message and for the attached documents. May Allah Ta'ala help Ahlu-s-Sunnah Ulema to teach this Ummah to follow as-Sirat al-mustaqim and help them to refute ahlu-l-bid'ah wa-d-dalalah and preachers of kufr and irtidad. May He bless you for your solicitude in denouncing the wrong beliefs spread by Yusuf Qaradawi and his followers. By doing so, you are obeying Rasul-Ullah, sall-Allah 'alayhi wa sallam, who said, "Whoever among you sees a evil must correct it with his hand; if this is not possible he must correct it with his tongue, and if this is not possible he must correct it with his heart, and this is the minimum of Iman." (Sahih Muslim)

After Ibn Baz's and al-Albani's death, Yusuf Qaradawi is now trying his best to become the worldwide leader of the Wahhabi cult. He controls the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Qatar, and has unlimited funds coming from Arab Emirates, from Kuwait and from Sa'udiyyah. This is the reason why his campaign of heresy is so massive, and why he and his followers can spend billions of dollars every years to publish his books, to broadcast his videos, to publish everything he writes on the Internet, etc. We have no doubt about the fact that he is today the amir of ahlu-d-dalalah, and that refuting him is a fard kifayah for Sunni Ulema.

On Sunday morning, just after receiving your message, we welcomed in the Islamic Madrasah of Rome a delegation of foreign visitors, among which there was Shaykh Nizam al-Fakhoury, the Shafi'i Mufti of Switzerland. He received copies of your documents, read then and told us that he completely agrees with you and with us that Dr. Qaradawi is today the public enemy N° 1 for Ahlu-s-Sunnah wa-l-Jama'ah.

 Shaykh Fakhoury is a disciple of Shaykh 'Abdullah al-Harari as-Shafi'i ar-Rifa'i, the famous muhaddith who lives in Lebanon and spent most of his long life in teaching the 'aqidah of Ahlu-s-Sunnah wa-l-Jama'ah and refuting Ibn Taymiyyah, Ibn 'Abdi-l-Wahhab, Ibn Baz, al-Albani and other bid'ah holders. He said that - insha Allah and with His help - he will ask Shaykh 'Abdullah to refute al-Qaradawi, too. I am also sending you documents to Lebanon, so that insha Allah Shaykh 'Abdullah can read them and be informed about the urgency of this refutation.

We are also writing to other Ulema we are in touch with, to ask them to collect all possible anti-Qaradawi documents, fatawa, books, etc. Unfortunately, out of technical problems, we are not yet able to publish Web pages in Arabic; what - insha Allah Ta'ala - we can immediately do is creating an English Web page containing your message and this answer of ours. Insha Allah' Ta'ala, we can insert in this page a link from where visitors can download the documents contained in your zipped files. Afterwards, insha Allah Ta'ala, we can also translate them into English and into Italian, write papers on the same argument and develop a section of our Web site especially dealing with Dr. Qaradawi's deviations. May Allah help you and us in refuting al-batil by means of al-Haqq. Please, tell us more about yourselves, your country and Sunni organizations there. We are in a real need to be informed about our Brothers and their situation.
